Yesteban shares “Grab” featuring Pete Doherty alongside details of debut album

, the album, pivots from his full-band work and draws on Jamaican influences alongside pop choruses and melancholic ballads. The whole record was extrapolated from a question: what if every band had its own reggae phase?

Yesteban explained that his writing process involves testing ideas with video clips. “I've got a few go-to test videos I use all the time: a party with Paris Hilton, a skydiving clip, a skateboarding video... and with this album, every track made me want to see it set to Super 8 films,” he said.

The collaboration with Doherty came after years of crossing paths at gigs and festivals and once playing basketball together. Yesteban was a mega fan of Doherty’s first solo album and heard a reggae influence, which led him to ask The Libertines' songwriter to appear on two tracks.

“I set up my portable studio in the living room and Pete recorded his parts spontaneously and right above his daughter's diapers with his two dogs hanging with us,” Yesteban said.

The Star Feminine Band and Marie-Flore also guest on the record.
