*Warning – contains full spoilers for Annika season 2*
Nicola Walker's crime drama Annika is now on Netflix, with both seasons, which originally aired on U&Alibi, available to stream.
The series, which was inspired by BBC Radio 4's audio drama Annika Stranded, stars Walker as Annika Strandhed, the Detective Inspector heading up the fictional Glasgow-based Marine Homicide Unit as they're tasked with solving various gory crimes.
Alongside Walker, other returning cast members to feature across the two seasons of fourth-wall breaking mysteries include Katie Leung as DC Blair Ferguson and Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews.
Fans who've already made their way through both seasons will know that the final episode of the second run ends on a major cliffhanger - but are there further instalments on the cards?
Read on for everything you need to know about Annika season 3.
Will there be an Annika season 3?

Sadly, it doesn't seem like there will.
The series last released new episodes back in 2023, and in August 2025 UKTV confirmed in a statement to Radio Times that while "we are incredibly proud of the success of Annika on U&Alibi," there are "no current plans for a third series."
It was clear that the team behind the show intended for it to continue. After all, season 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger, which saw Annika's dad become the prime suspect in a murder case.
There was also the additional opportunity to explore so many more of the Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit's cases, and to return to Annika and Jake's relationship. However, it seems that no more episodes are on the cards.
When would a potential Annika season 3 be released?

It seems that there won't be a third season of Annika, as UKTV confirmed it has "no current plans" to make more back in August 2025.
If something were to change and the series were to return after all (stranger things have happened!), we could potentially see new episodes by 2027 or 2028. However, this does seem unlikely.
Annika cast - who would have been back for a season 3?

While it seems Annika won't be returning for a third season, if it were to then we would have expected almost all of the main cast from season 2 to return - including Nicola Walker as Annika, Jamie Sives as Michael, Katie Leung as Blair and Varada Sethu as Harper.
Katie Dickie, Silvie Furneaux and Paul McGann would all also be likely to return, while we'd expect Sven Henriksen to be back as Magnus to deal with the fallout from cliffhanger.
The one star we wouldn't have expected to be back is Ukweli Roach as DS Tyrone Clarke. Tyrone made his exit from the Glasgow team midway through season 2.
Of course, if the show were to make a surprise return now, there would likely be more switch ups in the cast than initially expected, given the amount of time that has passed.
Here's a full list of the Annika cast we would have expected to return for season 3:
- Nicola Walker as DI Annika Strandhed
- Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews
- Katie Leung as DC Blair Ferguson
- Varada Sethu as DC Harper Weston
- Kate Dickie as DCI Diane Oban
- Silvie Furneaux as Morgan Strandhed
- Paul McGann as Jake Strathearn
- Sven Henriksen as Magnus Strandhed
