After 10 episodes of series 8, the competition came down to four queens, then three, then two, before just one was left standing. Last night, our winner was crowned.

Through a series of maxi and mini challenges, the queens were put to the test to prove who had the most charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. Along the way, there were friendships, plenty of drama and fierce competition before crowned the next winner.

The final four queens were Alik from Brighton, Flesh from London, Mocha from Essex and Naya Thorn from Dudley.

Bones presents series 8 winner

Taking to the stage to hand over the title of the UK’s Next Drag Race Superstar, along with a £25,000 cash prize, was series 7 winner Bones.

The four finalists were put through their paces one last time as they performed an extra-special megamix of some of most iconic girl-group songs.

Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and Graham Norton returned to the judging panel alongside head judge RuPaul.

RuPaul also brought back the eliminated queens for one final runway and a rousing musical performance alongside the four finalists.

Then came the moment when the top four had to become the top three. With Alik eliminated, RuPaul revealed that Flesh, Mocha and Naya Thorn had secured their places in the final three and would all compete in a lip-sync for the crown.

After the lip-sync battle to David Bowie’s ‘Modern Love’, RuPaul declared Flesh the winner of series 8.

The reigning champion, Bones, who is part of the same drag family as Flesh, then officially handed over the crown and sceptre to the newly crowned queen.

BBC axes Drag Race UK

The moment was bittersweet, following an announcement that the BBC will axe after eight series on BBC Three.

But, don’t fret… The show has been announced to be moving to streaming platform WOW Presents Plus.

A BBC spokesperson said at the time: “As the BBC continues to navigate significant financial pressures and deliver the savings required of us, we have had to make some very difficult choices, none of which have been taken lightly.”
