Portsmouth host QPR on Saturday afternoon to get both of their Championship campaigns underway.
Pompey have finished 16th and 18th in the second flight since winning League One in 2024 and John Mousinho will be desperate to improve on those finishes this season.
Portsmouth, who lost 3-1 against West Ham in their Carabao Cup first round clash last weekend, are expected to be hovering just above the relegation zone this time out but the club will be happy to secure another Championship campaign given they spent 12 seasons in League One and League Two from 2012 to 2024.
QPR are entering their 12th consecutive Championship season and a bottom-half finish seems likely again for Julien Stéphan's side after they ended up in 15th last time out.
QPR, who lost on penalties against Millwall in their Carabao Cup first round showdown last weekend, will be improve on their best result in the last 11 seasons of finishing ninth.
