Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End kick off Saturday's Championship action with both teams desperate to begin their season with a win.
Steven Schumacher's side are back in the Championship for the first time since 2019 after they secured promotion from League One by winning the play-off final 4-1 against Stockport County.
Bolton were Premier League regulars from 2000 to 2012 and their fans will be dreaming of returning to the top flight in the future, however, this season is about surviving, with Schumacher's men among the favourites to be relegated.
Preston finished 14th in the Championship last campaign. They were 13 points off the play-offs while also ending up 13 points above the relegation zone.
Paul Heckingbottom's side are also expected to be battling relegation this season as they enter their 12th consecutive Championship campaign. If they find form this time out, it's worth noting that the play-offs have been expanded from four to six teams.
