Kylie Minogue delivered a huge homecoming performance at the 2026 AFL Grand Final in Melbourne yesterday (September 26) – watch the full set below.
The Australian pop icon headlined the pre-game entertainment at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, performing a specially created 20-minute set to more than 100,000 people before the Brisbane Lions faced Fremantle Dockers.
Despite rain in the build-up, the show went ahead with a production involving multiple costume changes, pyrotechnics and more than 100 dancers, before Minogue ended the show suspended high above the MCG.

The show began with a pre-recorded sequence celebrating Minogue’s Melbourne roots, in which she recited lyrics from Mike Brady’s much-loved Australian football anthem ‘One Day In September’.
Its melody was then woven into ‘Light Up’, the song created for Minogue’s three-part Netflix documentary , while the introduction also nodded to her early hit ‘I Should Be So Lucky’.
Minogue then came out for ‘Love At First Sight’, beginning a rapid-fire journey through several eras of her career that included ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Get Outta My Way’, ‘On A Night Like This’, ‘All The Lovers’ and ‘Spinning Around’.
The mood shifted for ‘Confide In Me’, when Kalkadunga musician William Barton joined her for a new arrangement of the 1994 single.
Following ‘Slow’, G Flip – who had also performed their own set earlier in the pre-game show – appeared in red with a pink guitar for a rockier version of ‘Padam Padam’.
Minogue then turned ‘The Loco-Motion’ into one of the production’s biggest numbers, surrounded by 100 young performers recruited from Melbourne dance and performance schools.
One of the dancers, who currently attends Minogue’s former school Camberwell High, portrayed a young Kylie, while Australian comedy duo The Inspired Unemployed also made a surprise cameo.
For the finale, Dom Dolla supplied a specially created club reworking of ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’.
Minogue eventually took the performance into the air, singing the song’s unmistakable “la la la” refrain from a circular platform suspended high above the stadium as dancers performed around a giant football bearing her name.
She later explained why she wanted to incorporate ‘One Day In September’ into the opening. “I always knew I wanted to reference Mike Brady’s footy anthem in some way,” she said. “For this occasion we decided I would recite the lyrics and have the melody refrain mixed into ‘Light Up’.
“I wanted the footy crowd to feel the nostalgia of that iconic song in an unexpected way.”

The performance continues a busy 2026 for Minogue. Earlier this summer she joined Snow Patrol at Crystal Palace Park to perform their collaboration ‘These Alarms’ and ‘Chasing Cars’.
She then reunited with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in Brighton for ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’, before joining Madonna at WorldPride Amsterdam for ‘Love Sensation’.
