First released in 2011, saw Roxanne Clifford, James Hoare, Marion Herbain and Patrick Doyle combine guitars and vocal harmonies on songs about ghosts, doomed romance and dread. The album was re-recorded in just three days at Smokehouse studio in Wapping after an initial session in Yorkshire was abandoned.
The anniversary edition of will be released in November. It features covers and B-sides, with new single "Starry Eyes" — originally released as a B-side to "Found Love in a Graveyard" — landing today.
"Starry Eyes comes from the earliest period of the band and was included on the first single," the band explain. "Although originally written by Roky Erickson we made it our own and it became permanently linked to the band, a favourite of fans and included in the set at every show."
While the album's A-side and B-side contains the original tracks, Side C brings together five covers the Rolling Stones' "Under My Thumb", Slumber Party's "Sooner Or Later", The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band's "Eighteen Is Over the Hill", Eurythmics' "Thorn in My Side" and The Verlaines' "Joed Out", and Side D contains four B-sides from the band's early singles.
The new release will also help to raise funds for the Los Angeles LGBT Centre in honour of drummer Patrick Doyle, who died in 2018. "It feels slightly surreal that 15 years have passed already since the release of our debut album, yet so much has happened since," the band share. "A second album, an EP worth of unreleased demos, solo projects, and of course Patrick's tragic passing. We miss him and think of him often."
They add that the reissue is "a nice way to house every track we put out during that era under one definitive roof, whilst also honouring Patrick's legacy by helping raise funds for the Los Angeles LGBT center, a charity close to his heart."
