In a bid to celebrate and save pubs, Joe Lycett is opening an East End boozer. The goings-on inside the Lycett Arms will be broadcast live for an hour every Friday, as the new landlord welcomes celebrity managers and guests, as well as familiar punters. This could go anywhere – Lycett failed to complete the exam needed to obtain an alcohol licence and issued a plea for help on Instagram. Let the chaos begin!
Marin Alsop's Pick of the Proms
7pm, BBC Four
The American maestro – who, infamously, was namechecked in Cate Blanchett's Tár – talks about being the first female conductor to lead the Last Night of the Proms, in 2013, and discusses her favourite moment of this season: pianist Yunchan Lim's opening-night performance of Ravel's Piano Concerto.
8pm, U&Drama
Another fun murder mystery to solve with boomer Allie (Brooke Shields) and gen Z Andi (Amalia Williamson). When a car dealer is found dead in his garden, the crime-solving duo recognise similarities to a murder from Allie's first novel. Will it lead them to the killer?
9pm, BBC Two
The two-part mystery that began last week concludes. And things are as hair-raising as they ever get in this cosy crime context: there's clearly going to be another murder unless the team can prevent it, so Tanika takes a gamble and recruits a group of civilian advisers. Will they be too late?
9pm, ITV1
Not just a doppelganger for OG Rainmaker Matt Damon, British actor Milo Callaghan also ably leads this highly watchable US legal drama. This week sees Rudy (Callaghan) discover some unlikely evidence for the wrongful death suit, before a courtroom showdown opposite ex-boss Leo (Mad Men's John Slattery).
12.15am, Sky One
When useless nepo baby Otis is forced into the, well, force after pressure from the mayor, a horrified Flute (Jon Hamm) concocts a series of ever more extreme schemes to "crush a rich kid's dreams". Meanwhile, a cold-ridden Harmony takes too much of Marvin's "special cough syrup" and conjures up her son's imaginary skeleton friend, Mr Flesh (Alan Tudyk).
Film choice
11.05pm, BBC Two
Athina Rachel Tsangari's adaptation of Jim Crace's novel is shot like a homage to 1970s British folk horror films – complete with Wicker Man-style animal masks and rituals. But the horror turns out to be more economic and social than supernatural. In an unnamed rural Scottish village, the diffident Master Kent (Harry Melling) rules benignly over the agricultural workers, including his former servant, the reserved Walter (Caleb Landry Jones). But then Kent's cousin (Frank Dillane) arrives with plans to enclose the common land and raise sheep. The inequities of power, and the way the dispossessed can blame outsiders for their lot, come to the fore in a brooding, earthy tragedy.
