Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen) is the CEO of a data-mining business called Hypergnosis, who is convinced he is on the brink of greatness. His despairing wife Lili (Lucy Punch) and daughter Jamison (Ava Marie Telek) don't share that opinion as Duncan attempts to turn influence and insight into power and profit inside the bubble of Silicon Valley. His former mistress, Anushka (Meaghan Rath), works at the company so Duncan turns repeatedly to his therapist, JoAnne (Sarah Goldberg), to unpick the mess that he creates for himself on a daily basis. Unfortunately, JoAnne has personal and professional woes of her own and Duncan barrels uncontrollably towards the brink of a nervous breakdown as he attempts to make his mark in a world of outsized egos and outlandish dreams
