co-creator Neil Druckmann has confirmed Naughty Dog are currently working on two new games.

Fans have been speculating about a sequel to 2020’s The Last Of Us Part Two ever since the game was released. At the start of 2023, Druckmann said The Last Of Us Part Three would only happen if the studio could come up with a “compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love.”  A few months later, Naughty Dog scrapped work on an online multiplayer game. 

Since then, Druckmann has gone back and forth about the chances of more games. During a making-of documentary that was released in 2024, Druckmann revealed he had a “concept” for a third game. “It does feel like there’s one more chapter to this story”. The following year, he told fans they shouldn’t “bet” on there being a sequel.

Yesterday (September 28) during the annual day celebrations, Druckmann shared a new blog post that confirmed Naughty Dog are currently working on two new projects set within the world of . “Since [making-of documentary] , we’ve talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of . We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages – so we can’t say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of beyond and ,” he wrote.

“The world of means a great deal to us, and we wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling.”

Next year, the third (and potentially final) season of HBO’s adaptation of will air.

Original game actors Laura Bailey (who played Abby) and Ian Alexander (Lev) have been added to the cast, however Druckmann has distanced himself from the project: “I wasn’t involved in shaping this season’s creative direction, and Naughty Dog did not have a creative role in the direction of this season.”
