have shared their powerful new single ‘Misery ’93’.
The Scottish band secured a SAY Award nomination for their acclaimed debut album, before ripping up the rulebook for a follow-up.
Incoming album ‘Consume’ – – was recorded over three weeks at outside Paris, and it finds the band pushing back against our modern dystopia.
“Consume, consume, consume. This is an album about trying to satiate our appetite for the endless gruel that the internet has to offer,” explain the band. “We’ve strived to capture what it’s like to navigate heartbreak, nostalgia, panic attacks and aspiring to glory while being ground up in the gears of a 21st Century Promised Land, wanting to be more than a pig in a trough, and remain resilient in the face of apathy.”
Out now, new single ‘Misery ’93’ deals with online radicalisation, and how young men fall prey to dubious digital identities.
A plea against the manosphere, ‘Misery ’93’ instead aims for hope and genuine communication – all set to a wicked chorus.
The Joy Hotel add: “Our new album is more broadly about social media, hopelessness, conspiracy theories and our changing relationship to technology so it felt important to address one of the darkest aspects of internet subculture in the manosphere and how violent and oppressive its ideas can be.”
Tune in now.
