The Cure Are “Bursting” With Songs, Plan To Tour In 2027

has revealed the band have big planned for 2027.

The mercurial goth legends returned in 2024 with their excellent album ‘Songs of a Lost World’. Garnering universal praise, The Cure followed this with a batch of remixes, a live album, and some superb concerts.

This year has been comparatively quiet, but frontman Robert Smith did find time to work with both Olivia Rodrigo and The Twilight Sad.

Chatting on BBC Radio 6Music with host Nick Grimshaw, the singer reflected on some recent live triumphs, before adding: “I’m looking forward to more Cure concerts in 2027. Of course, I’m not allowed to say where or when yet, but I’m confident they will be bursting with new songs. Watch this space…”

The Cure are seemingly “bursting” with songs, and are preparing two records. The first may be quite a difficult listening experience; “I mean dismal is a horrible word to use, but it’s quite dark, it’s related to ‘Songs Of A Lost World’, but it’s a different perspective on things,” he said.

“People think, ‘Ah, it’s because he’s been working with Olivia, because the third one is actually really upbeat’. [And] It’s really poppy, but it doesn’t compare melodically to the stuff that Olivia does, but it’s my idea of Cure Pop,” he continued. “It’s probably 20 BPM slower than anything she does, but [compared to] what we’ve done in last couple of years, it’s really rocking. It’s banging.”
