Formed by Ogborne, vocalists and guitarists Naima Bock and Finlay Burrows, bassist Isaac Green, and drummer Ewan Ferguson, The Cindys initially formed out of Ogborne's desire to travel, play shows and have the experiences that he felt he had missed in Bingo Fury, in which he spent several years making more challenging and experimental music.

Regrouping as The Cindys is described as "an exercise in simplicity", with serving as the first full-length introduction to the band's work. Alongside the announcement, they share new track "Town of Origin", which follows lead single "Glass Shattered" released last month.

"'Town of Origin' was written in half an hour, music and lyrics," Ogborne says of the song. "Usually it takes me months to finalize a song but this one was easy and enjoyable to put together. I was listening to The Wedding Present a lot at the time which I think comes across, both in the music and the lyrics."

The idea behind was to make a "major label debut, without the major label", calling on the influence of 1980s indie ranging from R.E.M.'s to The Replacements' Tim.

was recorded straight to tape with long-time collaborator and co-producer Joe Jones (Teenage Fanclub, Aldous Harding, The Cure) at Rockfield Studios, and came together as a collection of songs that had been tested live during shows throughout last year, including on support tours with Shame and Getdown Services.
