Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore are back as Julie and Edward in a second season of The Assassin, the Prime Video thriller in which the former plays a secret assassin.
In season 1, Edward discovered that Julie, who he was raised by, wasn't actually his birth mother, and in actual fact took him in after killing his father on a job.
By the end of the season, they seemed to be in a better place when it came to their bickering, frosty dynamic, but, speaking exclusively with Radio Times, Hawes and Highmore have teased that their duo are "slightly back to square one" at the start of season 2.
"We left them at the end of season 1, and they were rubbing along, and things were okay," Hawes said. "And when we meet them again, unfortunately, they are estranged again, and that's due to something having happened, which we do explore in a later episode. But Edward is getting married. He gets married, and then there's a kidnapping, which Edward needs Julie to..."
Highmore then cut in to say, "It's not the thing you want on your honeymoon, you know?," to which Hawes asked jokingly, "What, your mother?"

"You don't want your mother and you don't want your wife to get kidnapped," Highmore said, adding that "it's a pretty bad way to begin".
Hawes then joked: "Your wife's kidnapped and is replaced by your mother. It's like your worst nightmare!"

Season 2 also sees the return of Shalom Brune-Franklin and Devon Terrell, while newcomers to the cast include Arnaud Binard and Natalia Tena.
The synopsis says: "Hitwoman Julie and Edward reluctantly team up once again, when Edward’s dream honeymoon with Kayla is hijacked by the arrival of a mysterious new threat.
"Plunged back into a world of international crime, kidnapping and high-speed car chases, to survive the job and mend an already fragile relationship, they’ll have to take down Spain’s corrupt underworld… and hopefully not each other first."
