Kenyan artist tg.blk today shares new EP ‘Besides You’.

tg.blk was raised on to the beat-making alchemy of Timbaland and boom-bap. With no design beyond following her instincts and armed with little more than Logic and a mic in her bedroom, tg.blk relied on her local community to help propel her forward.

‘Besides You’ opens up a fresh chapter for the singer-rapper. It follows 2024 project ‘It’s Not That Deep’ and is the first in a trilogy of EPs which dissect the arc of a relationship – the parts we obsessively replay in our minds and wish to return to.

‘Besides you’ chronicles the first flush of love, the head-over-heels obsession where all the red flags look green. It’s a six-part dive into sensuality soaked in the sunshine of her coastal hometown of Mombasa; including the dreamy, jazz-inflected primer ‘Clutch My Bag’,  brazen declaration ‘Stop It’, and ‘So Bad’, the swooning track that kicked the new era off. 

Speaking on her vision for the EP, tg.blk shares: 

“I’m always putting a bunch of pressure on myself to be something bigger than I am. I love love and it’s all I want to talk about at the moment. ‘Besides you’ feels like the beginning of most of my relationships. It’s exciting, sexy, fun and obsessive. All I want to be is besides you.”
