have shared new single ‘Work It Out’.
A boy-girl duo formed by artists and, the band’s fuzzy, endlessly charming indie pop has a pleasingly lo-fi edge.
Reminiscent of those early Belle & Sebastian releases or even the more melodic impulses of The Moldy Peaches, there’s a real C86 vibe to new single ‘Work It Out’.
Out now, it’s done and dusted in three minutes, a potent piece of fuzzy guitar pop. Leaping out of the traps, there’s a gleeful sincerity ‘ Work It Out’ that feels almost child-like in its appeal.
Reminiscent of Swedish indie pop greats The Concretes, ‘Work It Out’ is an ode to people with differing opinions somehow managing to get along. Imagine that, eh?
Succulents comment:
‘Work It Out’ is about conflict resolution, but also about that strange apathy you can feel when you’re surrounded by constant arguments – whether that’s protests, politics or toxic online spats. The protagonist is almost taking the attitude of ‘I can’t be bothered with this’, while knowing that sometimes avoiding conflict doesn’t necessarily make it disappear. ‘Be careful what you wish for’ is probably the most important line in the song.
Tune in now.
