Slow Horses favourite stars in stunning new trailer for Netflix's Pride and Prejudice

Netflix has released the brand-new trailer for their upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice – and a closer look at Slow Horses' Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy.

The upcoming six-part series, which will drop on the streamer on 3 December, will follow the classic Regency-era story of Elizabeth Bennet (Emma Corrin) who, despite her initial judgements, falls in love with the hard-nosed and aloof Mr Darcy.

In the new trailer, Elizabeth is seen pondering what lies ahead of her life, and spending time with her four close-knit sisters.

Meanwhile Darcy is seen also deep in thought, skimming stones across the Pemberley lake.

As the pair meet at a ball and share jabs at each other, Mrs Bennet (Olivia Colman) is on a personal mission to get all of her five daughters married off.

The Bennet sisters are therefore thrust into the world of Regency society, love, and the expectations on women that come with it.

As Elizabeth is introduced to other potential suitors, including the charming Mr Wickham (Louis Partridge) and the hapless Mr Collins (Jamie Demetriou), she can’t help but notice the longing stares of Darcy, who prefers to remain on the fringes of society.

Despite having opposing views on life, the pair continue to get drawn closer, as the sisters one-by-one get betrothed and as a result grow distant.

"A man in historical clothing stands outdoors with a serious expression, wearing a vest over a white shirt, with hills and trees in the blurred background under a cloudy sky."

The story has been adapted by Dolly Alderton, creator of the memoir and TV series, Everything I Know About Love.

In September, following the release of the first images, leading lady Corrin wrote: "Dolly's adaptation brings so much to the surface that has lain forgotten in the text, as well as making the parts we love most sing even louder.

"Her adaptation has made me see this story for the first time not only as the love story that ultimately raised the romantic bar for all of us, but also as a love letter to sisterhood and family."

Industry’s Freya Mavor, Heartstopper’s Rhea Norwood and newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery have been cast as Elizabeth’s beloved sisters, Jane, Lydia, Mary and Kitty, respectively.

Mr Bennet is played by Rufus Sewell, while Fiona Shaw completes the main cast as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Austen's novel, which was first released in 1813, has been retold and adapted more than a dozen times on screen.

While some are reimaginings or twists on the basic plot – like Bridget Jones' Diary – other versions have followed the Regency-era in which it was set.

Colin Firth shot to fame in 1995 thanks to the BBC adaptation of the story, while in 2005, Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen starred in a film adaptation as Elizabeth and Darcy.

Meanwhile, the BBC found extraordinary success with The Other Bennet Sister earlier in 2026, a spin-off of the original tale that focused on the often forgotten Bennet, Mary (played by Ella Bruccoleri).

Pride and Prejudice will stream on Netflix from 3 December 2026. You can sign up to Netflix from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky TV and Virgin Media.
