The Fire Country universe keeps growing and whilst it may have kicked off with Fire Country as its original series, its sheriff-led offshoot is about to pick up where a jaw-dropping cliffhanger left off.
Sheriff Country returns for its second season this week in the US, with Morena Baccarin back as Mickey Fox, the sheriff of Edgewater.
CBS renewed the spin-off for a second run on last December, barely into the show's debut season, a vote of confidence in a drama that quickly found an audience. Season 2 arrives on the back of a finale twist that reframed Mickey's whole family history, and the new episodes promise to unpack the fallout.

Sheriff Country season 2 release date: When is it on?
Sheriff Country season 2 premieres on at 8pm ET/PT on CBS in the US, with episodes streaming on Paramount+.
The season follows a weekly release pattern, with the premiere titled Cyclone, followed by Family Trust and Ulysses on 23 October. In the US it airs as part of CBS's Friday night line-up alongside the wider Fire Country slate.

The second season of Sheriff Country will be coming to the UK slightly later than the US – but there won't be too much of a long wait.

CBS released the season 2 trailer last month, teasing Mickey's emotional fallout from the finale reveal and hinting that she and her father Wes may accept an uneasy alliance against a growing criminal threat in Edgewater.
Who is in the Sheriff Country season 2 cast?
Morena Baccarin leads the returning ensemble, with the show's core cast expected back for the new season.

Amanda Arcuri and Ian Quinlan have also been promoted from recurring roles to season 2 regulars, meaning we'll be seeing much more of Skye Fraley and Hank Iglesias in these new episodes.

What will happen in Sheriff Country season 2?
Season 2 opens after a short time jump, following the finale bombshell that DEA official Eva Santos is in fact Maria Fox, Mickey's mother, whom Mickey and Wes believed was dead.
The early episodes are set to gradually fill in viewers about what happened during the gap.
In the premiere, Cyclone, Mickey races to rescue a troubled young woman whose ties to a criminal operation expose a wider threat to Edgewater. The broader arc is expected to push Mickey and Wes into working with Eva on a mission against a Bulgarian cartel, while probing why she left her family and stayed away for so long.

In the US, Sheriff Country airs live on CBS on Friday nights at 8pm ET/PT, with episodes available to stream on Paramount+. Season 1 is also available to stream on Paramount+ for anyone catching up ahead of the new run.
