Six weeks out from the ATP Finals, the season's penultimate Masters tournament has drawn the top players in the men's game – apart from injured World No.1 Jannik Sinner – to China.

Alcaraz, Zverev and the rest of the top seeds, including defending champion Valentin Vacherot, have a bye through to the second round of the hard-court competition.

British breakout star Arthur Fery takes on Croatian veteran Marin Cilic as part of Wednesday's schedule, which also sees Matteo Berrettini and Holger Rune in first-round action.
