Bristol group have confirmed plans for new EP ‘Reflex’.
The band’s almighty fusion of noise rock and brutal techno makes for a bracing but inspired listen, and recently album ‘Endlessly’ represented a bold sonic journey.
Heading right back into the studio, SCALER pushed back against complexity of their recent work, aiming for a bracing sense of immediacy.
The band – Alex Hill, Isaac Jones, James Rushforth and Nick Berthoud, alongside visual artist Jason Baker – completed work on new EP ‘Reflex’ in record time, and the results are incoming.
New single ‘Spiral’ leads the way – daring and impactful, it sits adjacent to math rock in places, while also embodying a metallic sense of physically. Typically engrossing, SCALER kick off their new chapter by commenting:
“Our first time straying from 4/4. ‘Spiral’ began life as a hypnotic, sludgy beat, evolving into a spidery, chugging metal throb, the sound of a thought looping back on itself, picking up speed each time round. It blooms into a hyper real, open space that sizzles in your ears, that moment where circling finally tips into spinning out. By the end you’re back where you started, only now the spiraling feels familiar.”
Tune in now.
