Brighton-based multi-instrumentalist and artist will release his new album ‘What I Meant To Say’ on November 13th via Frequency.

After building a foundation in the jazz-adjacent space with debut album ‘Alexithymia’, released in 2022, Quinn shifts the sonic terrain into more liminal textures of brooding alt-pop, progressive R&B and modern soul.

‘What I Meant To Say’ – which includes previous singles ‘’, ‘Catastrophe’ and more – finds Quinn striving for balance between apparent dichotomies in his own work: light and dark, digital and analogue, emotional and produced. This album is a celebration of nuance, of combining approaches, and considering things from every angle, a sentiment that runs through the sound as much as the writing.

That dissonant flair is evident on new single ‘Can We Stay Here Please’, conceptualised at the end of several months living in Lagrasse, a tiny medieval village in the south of France.

The tender, slightly detuned number explores the dread of leaving a serene place, and of having to return to a fast paced environment.

Of the track, Oulton says:

“This is about the realisation that I’d have to go back to real life and back to being connected again online, social media, career progression, after months living in a tiny medieval village in the south of France. It’s the most beautiful place. The idea of anything else was frightening, and completely impossible to compute at the time.”
