will release new album ‘Dopamine Hits’ on February 12th.
The post-hardcore outfit have built a noisy, vital catalogue, with five studio albums and countless sweat-drenched gigs leading the way.
Taking time out, Pulled Apart By Horses went through a period of re-organisation, recalibrating their approach to music-making in the process. “We’d been locked inside a house party that had got wildly out of hand,” they explain. “Strangers had wandered in, taken what they wanted and left the place a mess. We’ve spent the last few years cleaning it up, changing the locks and making sure next time it’s invite only.”
Now they’re back. Working alongside old friend – who worked across their early output – Pulled Apart By Horses have completed a new studio album.
Out on February 12th, ‘Dopamine Hits’ features 12 new tracks, with the band hitting Brighton festival Mutations this weekend to preview the material. A full tour follows in February, including a show at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, and London’s Moth Club.
Lead single ‘Great White Lies’ is out now, and it’s a feral, rollicking return that shows their energy hasn’t dimmed.
“This track came as a bit of a ‘lightbulb moment’ for us early on in the writing stages and ended up being a blueprint sonically, opening up the creative floodgates for the rest of the album,” explains . “Initially, it was just a loop of the bassline & drums which we then jammed over with abrasive, push-and-pull fuzzed up guitar lines.”
