The PS5 Pro console is currently out of stock on the PlayStation UK website.
From the United States to Japan to Luxembourg, retailers across the globe are rapidly selling out of the PS5 Pro.
One reason for this shortage is increased demand ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. The new instalment of the franchise is set to drop on Thursday 19 November, making this the first new GTA release since 2013.
Response to this shortage has seen the introduction of a new lottery system in Japan, the likes of which haven't been seen in the gaming industry. Sony is running a lottery system that allows players with 60 hours of playtime between September 27 2024, and September 27 2026 to purchase the console.
Players in Japan need to sign up by 7 October and those chosen by lottery will be notified by 26 October and need to buy the PS5 Pro before 2 November. If they don't, the lottery spots will be rescinded and entered back into another draw later this year.
While we're yet to introduce a lottery system here in the UK, it's important to be mindful of stock shortages if you're looking to buy a PS5 Pro. Here's where you can find the console today.

Other UK retailers, including Smyths and EE, are offering the PS5 Pro, but it is currently out of stock.
How long will the PS5 Pro shortage last?
While no official statement has yet been released by Sony, it's rumoured that the stock shortage is expected to last into early 2027.
This means that the shortage will extend well beyond both the release of GTA 6 and the 2026 holiday season.
Why is PS5 Pro sold out?
Most gamers and gaming experts attribute the PS5 Pro stock shortages to the upcoming release of GTA 6, as players seek to upgrade their console before 19 November.
This especially appears to be the case as the sudden low stock coincided with the release of the GTA 6 extended look that aired on Netflix. Plus, the PS5 Pro has been advertised as "the best place to play" GTA 6 by both Sony and Rockstar Games.
Additionally, Sony are part of an industry facing widespread DRAM shortages, limited the number of new consoles they're able to manufacture.
DRAM, Dynamic random-access memory, is the key system memory that temporarily holds active data for quick CPU access, and is currently in ultra-high demand due to the AI boom.
