The EP follows her debut album – released in June – which was written throughout her cancer treatment and the end of a ten-year marriage. , conversely, was written as she reconnected with her body, between summer 2025 and spring 2026.

“I literally wondered what desire would look again, if I would ever feel it again,” Lexia said in a press statement. "Swimming" was inspired by a turning point in her recovery. While swimming in a river near Lago Maggiore in Italy, she felt her sexual energy return. The track was recorded at Raymond Richards’ Red Rockets Glare studio in Portland with producer Alex Callenberger, and mastered by legendary producer and Tortoise member John McEntire.
