Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage launches new band Iconic Fugues with first single, "2025 Dream/2025 Blues"

The band follows sixteen years of Savage co-fronting Parquet Courts alongside Austin Brown, and an indefinite hiatus that started in 2022 — though Savage confirmed in an interview with POST-TRASH that Parquet Courts are still very much a band. While he has since released solo material, "2025 Dream/2025 Blues" marks the first preview of his new band endeavour.

“Two songs in one! Really it’s just about a guy who wakes up from a dream only to be confronted with a series of increasingly consequential, harsh realities," Savage says. "It’s a blues song where the grievances range from petty to dire. It was written in 2025, as you’d imagine, but nearly everything I sing about is still very much on my mind. As I write this all out it sounds bleak, but I don’t find it to be a bleak song. I think it’s just amazing the way a fun guitar solo can draw a bit of sun out from behind the clouds.”
