Jack Osbourne has given an update on the upcoming biopic about the life of his late father, Ozzy Osbourne.
Speaking in an interview with E! News, he confirmed that the script for the new film is now complete and that when writing it they were sure to consider what fans would and wouldn't want to see.
Osbourne told E! News: "The script is done, we're currently going out to directors. It's gung-ho."
He continued: "I have this mantra, and I always say it, when in meetings with my mom or doing anything with the family business. It’s, 'give the fans what they want.'
"That’s our people, that’s who we’re catering for, that’s what my dad wrote music for, that’s what he toured for, it’s why we did the shows we did. It’s been a big theme.
"Because we’re doing the Ozzy movie with Sony, and I’m always saying in the meetings, 'We’ve got to give the fans what they want.' We can’t make this artsy, esoteric biopic. No, we’re not doing that—for many reasons—but it’s not what the fans want."
The Prince of Darkness's son also confirmed that there is already an actor in the talks to play Ozzy: "I’m not allowed to say, but conversations have been had, and if it all works out, it’s gonna be awesome."
Ozzy Osbourne died last year in July 2025 at the age of 76 from a heart attack after a battle with Parkinson's and coronary artery disease.
His death came mere months after he undertook a mammoth farewell concert with his band Black Sabbath at Villa Park in their home city of Birmingham.
The new biopic about his life, love story with wife Sharon and Black Sabbath's success has been in the works with Sony since 2021, before Ozzy's death, with Oscar nominee Lee Hall brought onto the project to write the screen play. Hall is known for writing Billy Elliot and another musician biopic, Elton John's Rocketman.
The update on the biopic comes after it was announced by the Osbourne family earlier this year that they were exploring the use of an AI-powered Ozzy Osbourne digital avatar which would be able to perform and talk to fans.
