The Irish-Nigerian songwriter won huge praise in 2024, with her evocative take on Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’ going viral.

Making her return with new single ‘Tie Your Lace’, the artist – raised in Ireland in a musical Christian household, but now based in London – displays an evocative side to her artistry.

A touching and tender piece of songwriting, ‘Tie Your Laces’ is about childhood, while also saluting the role of her parents in her life.

The vocal is a soft moment of directness, with Olorunns saying of the song:

“I see this song as almost a love letter to my parents. Because I know that while it’s hard for me being away from them, I know they miss having me around too. That’s what the song’s about – looking at me leaving home more from their perspective. There’s a line ‘I’ll always be your daughter’, a portrait of my mother and father – the idea that just me existing means I’m carrying a piece of them wherever I go, even if we’re not living under the same roof.”
