UK R&B artist today shares her brand new EP, ‘Don’t Stare At The Flame’.
Since emerging pre-pandemic, Ojerime has reconfigured classic R&B tropes into a grittier, homegrown brew. The 8-track EP ‘Don’t Stare At The Flame’ – her first project since 2023 project ‘’ – more faithfully leans into ’90s soul conventions; think confessional piano ballads, melismatic harmonies and spacious mid-tempos exploring autonomy, desire, romantic discontent and shifting loyalties.
The EP sees the London artist leveling up, roping Kaytranada on ‘IDC’, Seattle-based producer Sango on highlight ‘Friends Like You’, SAMO & Villabeatz on ‘Do It Like Me’.
Ojerime teased EP with a string of singles released earlier this year, ‘SAFE’, ‘4ME’ and ‘TOPDOWN’, the latter pairing Ojerime’s resonant vocals with a low-slung, ’80s-tinted groove from Canadian producers Keys N Krates (Ciara, Rochelle Jordan, Katy B).
Accompanied by a visual directed by Dan Lemoyne, the recent single further establishes the moonlit atmosphere coursing through this new era.
