Best known for gacha games such as Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, developers HoYoverse surprised us all during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live with the reveal of Nodusfall, a very AAA-looking fantasy co-op action game, and we’ve got some Nodusfall release date speculation as well as what to expect to whet your whistle.

It wasn’t without controversy, however, as some were quick to point out that Nodusfall has shades of some other games, which we’ll get into later.

But still, one can’t deny the impressive cadence at which HoYoverse releases games, nor can you deny we’re able to pad out an intro quite well!

On that note, let’s get straight to all the Nodusfall goodness!

When is the Nodusfall release date? Release date speculation

There is currently no confirmed Nodusfall release date or release window.

The game looks fairly far into its development cycle, so presumably we will hear sooner rather than later about a Nodusfall release date.

Until then, there is a litany of upcoming video games in 2026 and beyond to look forward to!

Can I pre-order Nodusfall?

It’s not clear if Nodusfall is free-to-play or a paid title as of yet, but given HoYoverse’s track record, it’s likely to be the former, so pre-orders may not be in, well, order at all.

You can pre-register for the game on the official Nodusfall website, and that should give you all the details you need as they come out.

Which consoles and platforms can play Nodusfall?

So far, platforms haven’t been revealed for Nodusfall, but given its level of graphical fidelity and that it’s using Unreal Engine 5, it is likely to be a current-gen and PC affair.

Depending on optimisations made and which version of Unreal Engine 5 HoYoverse is using, it could theoretically come to the Nintendo Switch 2, but that is speculation on our part.

Nodusfall at first glance looks almost to be a mashup of Monster Hunter and Elden Ring, with the art style highly reminiscent of FromSoftware’s RPG epic, with some commentators suggesting it strays a little closely to some of the latter’s enemies and character designs.

HoYoverse says that “ draws inspiration from the world’s diverse mythological traditions, breathing life into a self-contained fantasy world in which landscapes, civilisations, and divine order follow a logic entirely their own.

“Rendered in a realistic art style, the game depicts a vivid mythic continent teeming with legendary creatures, from ancient ferocious beasts rooted in Eastern mythology classics to Western dragons that loom as harbingers of calamity. As players’ journey progresses, new regions with distinct ecology, culture, and history continue to unfold.”

As for the actual plot, it is said that the “arrival of the mysterious Dreadnodi spread corruption across the land, twisting legendary creatures and leaving the world in ruin.”

Players are described as Weavers, who are “beings shaped and enlightened by the divine and entrusted with sacred missions that can alter the fate of the world.”

In terms of gameplay, HoYoverse said, “players will form squads to battle mythical creatures, where every encounter tests both teamwork and tactical flexibility. By selecting different Styles and Skill combinations for their characters, players can craft countless tactical approaches tailored to the flow of battle and the needs of their team.”

The reveal trailer goes into some of the mythos surrounding the Nodusfall world, as well as the over-the-top action sequences showing multiple players tackling huge beasts, including some rather familiar-looking ones for any Elden Ring fans…

Visually, it looks stunning, with Unreal Engine 5 flexing its muscles. And if it turns out to be free-to-play, then we can all see for ourselves!
