Break out the nachos, sauce up the chicken wings and get your American beer of choice on ice; the NFL is back for the 2026 season.

All 32 teams have tooled up over the off-season – through free agency, trades and the Draft – ahead of the annual hunt for the Lombardi Trophy.

The Seattle Seahawks return as reigning Super Bowl champions after their dominant victory over the New England Patriots in February and will be among the favourites to make it back to the big game this year.

There are plenty of runners and riders, however, and the opening weeks of the campaign will help to separate the wheat from the chaff.

How to watch NFL on TV

NFL coverage is split between , NFL Game Pass via DAZN and 5 for UK viewers this season.

Sky Sports will broadcast more than half of all 2026 fixtures live, including Sunday double-headers, primetime matchups, NFL Redzone, Thanksgiving Day, the Playoffs and Super Bowl LXI.

Sky Sports can be added to any Sky TV package for just £22 per month for all nine sports channels, or you can pick up the complete sports package plus Netflix for £35 per month.

Sky Sports customers can live stream the game via the Sky Go app on a variety of devices, including most smartphones and tablets as part of their subscription. You can also watch matches via NOW with a day membership (£14.99) or month membership (£34.99).

NFL Game Pass via DAZN offers coverage of every match of the 2026 season, live and on demand, via web, mobile, TV and streaming devices, and games consoles. The season-long subscription, which costs £199.99 for Season Pro Ultimate or £179.99 for Season Pro, includes multiview, alternative feeds, the NFL Network channel and more.

5 will show two live games – a 6pm kick-off on 5Action and a 9:25pm kick-off on 5 – on free-to-air TV and online every Sunday on its rebranded flagship show NFL On 5.
