The live-action Power Rangers series has reportedly been scrapped at Disney+.
The series was written and executive produced by Percy Jackson and the Olympians creatives Jonathan E Steinberg and Dan Shotz - however, it will not be moving past the development stage.
Deadline reports that it's down to budget reasons, with the investment of a "high-end, live-action superhero series" being tricky when the streamer/production studio doesn't own the IP (in this case, the Power Rangers IP is owned by Hasbro).
Fans have expressed their disappointment on social media, with one writing on X (formerly Twitter): "Well thats a surprise. Thought it would be a slam dunk. This will now be the longest we have been without a new power rangers series."

Another added: "This really is the power rangers decade of humiliation huh," while one more joked: "Can't wait for Hasbro to announce power rangers is being put out to competitive tender."
Now, the future of the franchise is left a little uncertain. Most recently, Netflix released their series Power Rangers Cosmic Fury in 2023, intended to be the final series in the franchise started by Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993.
Based on Japan's Super Sentai, the original series followed a group of youngsters who were recruited and trained to morph into the Power Rangers, and who are able to use special powers to defeat villains, from Lord Zedd to Rita Repulsa.
Meanwhile, Steinberg and Shotz are working on Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3.
