“It’s a new character” – Michael Johnston teases his role in 4

“It’s a new character, but the film is just returning to its original formula. It’s just like that first film. It’s going to give the fans exactly what they want. Rick and Evie are back.”

“We’re going on an adventure again. It’s so exciting. The film rips. It just goes immediately. It’s truly an action film. It’s fight scenes and chase scenes and running through the streets.”

Johnston said he can’t believe he’s part of the franchise. “I’m working with stunt guys and I’m like, ‘Wait, you’re gonna let me do this?’”

He said he’s pulling out all the stops, including taking boxing lessons. “It’s going to be honest to the original film,” he said.

Johnston said he was initially sceptical about the project, but became excited after learning that Radio Silence Productions, behind Ready or Not and the recent films, were involved.

He praised the team’s “young, fresh energy” and said they wanted the film to be “really fun” and avoid being overly “expositional”, instead keeping the action moving.

After reading the script, Johnston said his first thought was: “Oh my God, the fans are going to love this.”
