Long-time CLASH favourites, Surprise Chef are ready to spin the creative dials once more. Incoming mixtape ‘Frogs In A Pond’ draws from their soul and funk DNA, while also displaying a cinematic bent – notably citing soundtracks from and (including and ).
Out on October 23rd via Concord Jazz, the 13-track mixtape is essentially the soundtrack for a film that doesn’t exist – there’s a deeply visual quality to the music, and the tracklisting mirrors specific plot points.
New track ‘Leg Day’ is a lithe, groove-infused performance that leans on the near-telepathic interplay within Surprise Chef.
