Mathilda Homer’s New Album ‘Love Gets Bigger’ Tackles Growth, Maturity, And Motherhood

returns with new album ‘Love Gets Bigger’.

The songwriter stems from a deeply personal place, with Mathilda taking the album’s construction at her own speed.

Out now, the LP was written and recorded at home with her partner and co-producer Isaac Waddington. There’s a few close friends on here, too, with ‘Weapons’ being co-written alongside Matt Maltese and Danny Casio.

Constructed while raising their two children, ‘Love Gets Bigger’ deals with the challenges of adulthood, and actual real-life problems – it’s about growth, maturity, and motherhood, while also seeking to maintain friendships, while also being honest about the role of the care-giver.

Out now in full, it’s a fulsome, melodic, and endlessly revealing song cycle. Mathilda comments…

This album came to me when I’d just given birth to my second child, a time where I felt anxious and needed familiarity. My partner Isaac and I stayed home in our little bubble, and set up camp in the studio. Inbetween naps, a lot of the vocal takes have Quincy in the sling. I felt the most peaceful in those moments, when I was able to be creative but stay close to home, and my babies and be with Isaac.

We didn’t tell anyone we were writing it, I didn’t want outside pressure on any part of my new life as a mum of two. It felt like the only way it would work organically would be the moments where we could find space and time to be creative as a small family unit. Writing at our kitchen, whilst the babies crawled and clambered over us.

There are also songs that I picked from my past, that felt like they were written for this project. So between listening to my previous work and writing things in our bubble, this album was pulled together. With love, from me and my little family. Love gets bigger, is about the boundless love for your babies, that truly does – get bigger.

Tune in now.
