Marshals season 2: Release date and latest news for the Yellowstone spin-off

It's been a huge year for Yellowstone fans, even though the show itself is no more.

The wider universe has lived on since the initial story of the Dutton family came to a close, with two spin-off/sequels arriving just this year.

First, there was Marshals, focused on Kayce Dutton's new life as a Special Deputy US Marshal, which was swiftly followed by Dutton Ranch, centred around Kelly Reilly's Beth and Cole Hauser's Rip.

Now, just months after the first season debuted, Marshals is back, with Grimes and his co-stars such as Logan Marshall-Green and Arielle Kebbel returning.

The first season of the show kicked off with a game-changing twist, which revealed that Kayce's wife Monica had died following the end of Yellowstone.

Grimes admitted that he wasn't initially sold on this development when it was pitched to him, telling Radio Times: "My first gut reaction was, ‘I hate that idea’, because it just didn't even compute. There was no Kayce without Monica. That was their whole arc – this sort of Romeo and Juliet love story. They were two halves that made the whole, so I couldn't wrap my head around it at first.

"But, little by little, I started to realise that they had everything they'd ever wanted. If they were going to stay together, raise Tate and live on the ranch, then there were no more stories to tell. In that case, we should just leave them alone and let them be happy. So there were only a couple of options for removing the possibility of that life, and this was the only way to tell a new story."

But will season 2 feature a similarly dramatic start, when are the episodes set to debut and who else from the cast is returning?

Read on for everything you need to know about Marshals season 2.
