Everlasting Love.

Born in Edgware, Steve Ellis started his musical career at a young age, fronting The Clifton Bystanders before forming the Soul Survivors. Heavily influenced by American soul and R&B, he took this in to the Love Affair, achieving immediate success.

Arguably the last of the ‘teen scream’ bands of the 60s, the band knocked The Beatles off pole position in the charts with ‘Everlasting Love’, a pristine piece of bubblegum pop with a phenomenal blue eyed soul vocal.

Subsequent singles such as ‘Rainbow Valley’ re-asserted their chart dominance, with Steve Ellis becoming one of the defining pop pin-ups of the late 60s.

Love Affair split as their star dimmed, with Steve Ellis working on vocals to the Loot soundtrack – the title song would become a sought-after classic – before releasing a solo record with Zoot Money.

Cited as a touchstone by Paul Weller (and others), Steve Ellis returned to the studio for a well-received album in 2018.
