jo from school is a rising star on Chess Club Records, joining an alumni list that includes Billie Marten, Phoebe Green, and once upon a time Wolf Alice. "Living Room" was produced by Rich Cooper, whose credits include CMAT and Marten.
“‘Living Room’ was made out of wanting to push myself to not hide behind a song and instead lean into what makes it vulnerable,” jo said. “To me and Rich, that meant trying to capture the feeling of a band learning its way through a song. We got fiddle and lap steel and friends singing in the background and it made me feel at home singing about dark sad things. It replicates the track's meaning of feeling safe to talk about what’s happened to you.”
The single comes with a video directed by regular visual collaborator Rosa Levenson, starring an extremely creepy human-sized doll named Patrick, credited as 'Man Prop'. The video shares the track’s idea of acknowledging heavy experiences without taking them too seriously.
