returns with her gorgeous new album ‘Yesterday For Tomorrow’.
Out now, the album ends a six-year hiatus, and it represents some of the songwriter’s most patient and profound work to date.
From the outset, Kwamie Liv chose to reject hardness and innocence, welcoming softness and innocence into her life. Calling the album “my way of insisting on taking your time, on the gentle”, Danish-Zambian artist is capable of infusing whisper-soft melodies with striking intensity.
She notes: “I have always been drawn to contrast artistically, it feels the closest to the truth and freedom at once, nothing and no one is just one thing. Everything exists at the same time.”
‘Yesterday For Tomorrow’ can be opaque and suggestive, but also incredibly direct. Out now in full, Kwamie Liv introduces her first album in six years by commenting:
In a world that is so violent and unpredictable and that can feel so fast, I wanted to create something soft, a sanctuary of slowness. I waited for these songs to come to me over many years. I had to step back, deeply listen to and not compromise my patience.
Tune in now.
