Scottish singer-songwriter has released her debut album ‘Albatross’.
The 25-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter gained traction on TikTok in 2021 with her song ‘Complex’. She is now working independently releasing the album via Matt Maltese’s Last Recordings on Earth.
The album takes influence from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, exploring themes of desire and the disintegration of a relationship in standout tracks such as ‘Nothing Really Changes’ and ‘I Don’t Think of Kissing You’, while also turning inwards to examine personal transformation, reflecting her return to Scotland after time in London. Comprising twelve tracks, the album intimately recorded live, laid down in Frome over two weeks with producer Dom Monks and co-producer Will Taylor of Flyte.
The album arrives alongside focus track ‘Roadkill’, which explores power and the complexities of past relationships. Speaking about the song, Gregson-MacLeod says: “There is likely no more assured a statement within the record than the one that centres ‘Roadkill’: if that’s power, I don’t want it.”
‘Albatross’ follows her 2025 EP ‘Love Me Too Well, I’ll Retire Early’, a five-track collection recorded at Edwyn Collins’ studio in Helmsdale. The EP marked a return to her songwriting roots following the attention surrounding ‘Complex’.
Gregson-MacLeod will take the album on a UK and Ireland tour in February 2027, including a headline show at London’s Bush Hall on Friday 5th February. Tickets here.
