"propane" follows Kaeto's 2024 debut , as well as her single "words" released last year, and a remix of opener "U R MINE" by Porches. The new track is the first preview of a broader body of work to come, merging trip-hop, dance, electronic, punk, and alt-pop as she reveals her experiences of navigating relationships as an autistic person.

“I made this song a while ago but couldn’t finish it when I initially wrote the melody," Kaeto explains. "Then I got dumped and thought ooh maybe this could be about how I seem to unintentionally set fire to everything good in my life lol. I called the song ‘propane’ because it's a gas that has many uses and I see myself like fire having this dual capacity for loving and ruining! I feel like I have a spirit that can heat a home and be so constructive/necessary, but I can also be very flammable and I feel like I can suffocate people."

"I wrote it in my old studio which I used as storage space for the only things I kept from that time in my life (a suitcase of clothes and my music equipment)," she continues. "I sold everything else and moved to Paris. This song was definitely part of finding the wider concept for this project which I finished in Paris, Mexico and London when I eventually returned.”
