has shared his new single ‘Drapetomania’.
Out now, the song represents his return after a three year hiatus, time Joel spent working on himself, and recalibrating his creative approach.
An ode to freedom, ‘Drapetomania’ was inspired by the women who raised him, and it focusses in on Black identity in the process.
Released during Black History Month, Joel will combine with Peckham Palms, London’s hub for Black female business and culture, for a special pop-up event.
“’Drapetomania’ is an ode to all black women, especially the women who raised me,” he states, “A tribute that says “I see you. I honour you. What you’ve given me, I carry forward”.”
