Chicago artist returns today with new single ‘Immaculate’.

Over frenetic production courtesy of Blake Wright, Jean crafts a self-styled-styled affirmation anthem, offloading a series of charged missives about creative autonomy and the lineage of rappers that moved the art-form forward without compromising ideas of Black liberation.

Speaking on the track, Jean says: 

“Hip-Hop was made for and built by Black people as a tool of liberation. It’s a “free” art form, yet only some of us are free. It’s time to give the originators their respect before you tell them to make room for people doing it for a quick buck.”

Jean Deaux emerged with her debut EP ‘Krash’ in 2018, later expanding her genre-spanning repertoire with a series of EP projects, ‘Empathy’ and ‘Most Wanted’. She released her first full-length project ‘nowhere, fast’ in 2024.

Jean’s writing reflects her Black, queer, native-Chicagoan and self-directed vision. Her first solo release of the year sets the pace for a slew of forthcoming releases.
