“It’s like casting a spell on yourself,” Gracie Abrams Celebrates the Launch of Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu in Paris

and are celebrating a fresh era with the launch of the house’s new Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu fragrance. Taking over Le Trianon, a 19th century theatre and concert hall in the heart of Paris, the brand hosted a euphoric event with 750 partygoers who danced the night away under glittering disco balls with magicians and indulged in tarot readings, temporary tattoos and Crush Absolu themed cocktails.

“It’s so wild and I’m so honoured,” Abrams said of her Chanel campaign. “All the women who have done this before me are such inspirations to me, and I think the opportunity to dive into how they did this was really the North Star going into it, so I’m very proud and I love everyone on the team so much so it’s an exciting day to celebrate with everyone.”

The new Crush Absolu scent is an ode to the classic Coco Mademoiselle launched by Jacques Polge in 2001. Olivier Polge’s new version is complex and euphoric, opening with a bright accord of grapefruit and lychee layered over richer notes of rose and jasmine, before settling into a lingering base of patchouli, amber, vetiver and vanilla. The resulting perfume is delicate and enveloping, balancing softness with strength, and sensual warmth with a bright, luminous freshness. “It’s a scent that is full of character. Patchouli is elevated by ambery notes, accentuating the fragrance’s sensual, powerful nature,” says Polge.

The party was attended by friends and family of the house, including musicians Jorja Smith, Paloma Faith, Rina Sawayama, Celeste and Chanel Chance ambassador Angèle alongside model Bhavitha Mandva, photographer Petra Collins, Lux Pascal, Lou Doillon, Quenlin Blackwell, Guillaume Diop, and many more.

Chanel welcomed guests to experience the olfactory world of Crush Absolu first hand, transforming the venue through the warm ambery hues of Coco Mademoiselle, into a lively Parisian café with live magicians performing tricks at the bar and fortue tellers reading tarot cars and besides temporary tattoo artists. French composer and pianist Christophe Chassol soundtracked the earleir portion of the evening before Honey Dijon took over the ballroom alongside French DJ Chloé Caillet and American producer Alissia.

Ahead of the party, we caught up with Gracie to discuss this monumental moment. what it means to be a part of Chanel history and what the new Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu means to her, with exclusive portraits by Paris based photographer Jasa Muller, known for his surrealist, illustrative images,.

How does it feel to be part of such a significant moment in Chanel’s history?

It’s so wild and I’m so honoured. All the women who have done this before me are such inspirations to me, and I think the opportunity to dive into how they did this was really the North Star going into it, so I’m very proud and I love everyone on the team so much so it’s an exciting day to celebrate with everyone.

There’s always been a good sense of cohesion between your style and your music and your artistry. How have you grown this year and what have you learned about yourself since becoming a Chanel ambassador?

I feel like Chanel is really all about making you feel like you’re in your skin. And they celebrate the feminine and the masculinity in the feminine so beautifully. I feel like that has been so true for me over the past year as I’ve continued to get to know myself better, working with Chanel has honestly been a big part of that, and the way that they want all of the people who they dress to really highlight their individuality is rare I think, you know especially such an iconic house, they do such a gorgeous job of making everyone feel like themselves within their history so, it’s just again, I feel like everything they do is worth celebrating and for me tonight to get to do that alongside is really exciting.

How have your tastes evolved over the years and how does the new Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu align with who you are today?

Honestly again, not to repeat myself too much but I do think that this fragrance in particular is my signature because it does bring out the masculine and the feminine. There’s the floral notes but also the more amber, darker notes which feel so true to me. Some days I wake up and I feel more girly and other days I feel kind of tougher, and I think this fragrance really allows that to all coexist. And to me, fragrance always exists like you’re casting a spell on yourself, and to walk out the door with this on my skin makes me feel strong. And again, something about being in the second half of your twenties, I think is such an exciting time to experiment with what makes you feel most you, and this is helped to support that.
