It: Welcome to Derry is about to come full circle, with author Stephen King's grandson writing for season 2 of the prequel series.
King famously wrote the 1968 horror novel following the supernatural entity, which appears in the form of Pennywise the Clown. So far, it's been adapted into two feature films and two seasons of the prequel series.
Now, speaking exclusively to Radio Times, showrunner Brad Caleb Kane revealed: “King’s grandson Ethan is writing for season 2.
"He’s brilliant and really smart. He’s a chip off the old block. You can see why the Kings are how they are. It’s definitely passed down genetically through generations.”
King has previously praised the prequel series, dubbing it "amazing" and "terrifying".
Welcome to Derry season 2 will be set in 1935, 27 years before season 1, and will focus on one of the interludes in King's novel, the Bradley Gang Massacre. It's set to follow the mystery of a boy who disappears amid a Cold War military plot.
Co-creator Andy Muschietti previously confirmed that the tone of the series will feel different this time, and will not shy away from the "horrible" social and cultural themes of the 1930s.

He told Variety: “There’s gonna be a lot of that depression-era hustling in the air in our characters.
"Everybody’s trying to get by and survive the circumstances. They are gonna do crazy things. And of course, the social, cultural, horrible things that were happening in the era, too. We’re not going to skip those. [They are the] very centre and the heart of our story.”
