Jannik Sinner has been the dominant force in men's tennis for the majority of 2026.
With Carlos Alcaraz sidelined for long periods due to a wrist injury, the Italian has been a cut above the rest of the field. He stormed to back-to-back Wimbledon triumphs and, were it not for the sweltering temperatures at Roland-Garros, would likely have added another French Open to his trophy cabinet.
But Sinner, who claimed his first US Open title in 2024 and was beaten by Alcaraz in last year's final, has not played a competitive match since his victory in SW19.
So, heading into the fourth and final grand slam of the year, has an injury stopped him from competing at Flushing Meadows?

Will Jannik Sinner play at US Open 2026?
No, Jannik Sinner will miss the US Open this year due to a knee injury.
Sinner has not returned to the court since beating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final, having pulled out of the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open due to a right knee issue.
That same problem has forced the 25-year-old to make the tough decision to withdraw from the US Open as well.
In a post on social media, Sinner said: “Even though I have been working hard with my team and my medical staff, we have now had to make the difficult decision that I will not be able to compete at the US Open this year.
"We have been back on court in Monte Carlo over the last couple of days and have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue.
"I’m obviously very sad and disappointed, as New York has a special place in my heart. I was very much looking forward to coming back and playing in the electric atmosphere in front of the great fans there."
It remains to be seen when Sinner will be back in action, but reports suggest his return may come at either the China Open or Shanghai Masters.
