Despite what the tutorial may show with the speeder bikes, skim speeders and landspeeders on offer, in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, podracing is also an option.
In fact, podracing becomes a pretty significant part of the main campaign, but you might have to sink in a few hours before reaching this stage.
And with Sebulba, the podracing champion who first made his debut in Episode I – The Phantom Menace, now in the game, it only feels right that players should fulfil all their podracing dreams.
Here is everything you need to know about how podracing works in Star Wars: Galactic Racer.

How to unlock podracing in the Star Wars: Galactic Racer campaign
Unfortunately for you podracing loyalists, throughout the first act of the game podracing doesn’t feature. Podracing only comes in after you beat Sebulba at the end of the first act, who is hired by Kestar Bool to thwart Shade’s plans to join the Galactic League.
In the second act, talking to Sebulba on the hub of each planet will unlock memories you can play through. In these memories, you play as a younger Sebulba racing against his rivals in none other than – you guessed it – a podracer.
At the end of the second act after Kestar steals Sebulba’s podracer, Sebulba tasks Shade with getting it back and starts to train them in the art of podracing, with Hibi building Shade their very own podracer.
In the third act every time you go to a new planet, a new podracing challenge awaits Shade – fail these challenges and a ruthless Sebulba will take a league token from you.
Under Sebulba’s mentorship, the final act finale results in a podracing battle with Shade versus Kestar – it is here that podracing becomes the game’s main focus.
Of course, podracing also features in the game’s arcade mode, but it’s a nice touch that podracing becomes so fundamental throughout the campaign.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
