It should be noted, when you transmog your gear it only changes the appearance, leaving the stats completely unchanged.

However, in The Witcher 3 remaster, the process does require a lot of effort and playtime in order to reforge equipment.

Firstly, you need to unlock the two master blacksmiths, Yoana and Hattori, who offer regorging services for armour and weapons.

For Yoana, who specialises in armour transmog, you must complete the level 24 quest Master Armourers to unlock her services. Find Fergus Graem to start the quest.

For Hattori, who specialises in weapon transmog, you must complete the level 24 quest Of Swords and Dumplings to unlock his services. Speak to Hattori himself to pick up the quest.

Once you have completed these quests visit the master blacksmiths, enter the crafting menu and click on the reforge menu.

Now, all that’s left to do is select a piece of equipment and change its appearance! But remember, you can only change the appearance of your gear to the appearance of other items or armour sets you’ve already acquired.
