The Irish punk band land on , ’s weekly spotlight on the best and brightest emerging artists, ahead of their new album ‘Nobody’s Coming To Save You’. Gurriers were profiled by news editor Andrew Trendell and photographed by Joseph Bishop in Manchester exclusively for NME – check it out here.

In their story, the Dublin-formed band expounded on the meaning of their band name. “The word ‘gurriers’ is rooted in a lot of negativity. It would be synonymous with a thug or a hoodlum,” explained guitarist Mark MacCormack. “We’re more the idea of community. The stage presentation is bombastic, let loose and a bit wild. We’re always trying to encourage you to be yourself, truly and fully, have a good time and be accepted.”

Bassist Charlie McCarthy described Gurriers as “an extension of our anger”, which is palpable in their upcoming second album, ‘Nobody’s Coming To Save You’. “Dreams, decay and desire” are at the core of the album, said frontman Dan Hoff. “People can rise up against the system if they believe they can,” he said of the righteous political rage they channelled into the record. “We need to help each other to do that. It’s us vs them.”
