Football icon Gary Lineker will open up about his life in a new tell-all docuseries.
The four-part series, tentatively titled Lineker, will come to Prime Video in 2027, with the streamer promising "the remarkable story of the legendary footballer-turned-broadcaster's 50-year career".
Lineker had a hugely successful time in club football (where he became top goalscorer at Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur) and scored 48 goals in 80 appearances for the England national team.
He later moved over to become one of the country's leading broadcasters, now hosting podcast The Rest Is Football and the upcoming ITV competition series The Box.
While football has always remained at the heart of his work, Lineker has also become known for his outspoken political views and activism.
Now he is prepared to lift the lid on the truth behind the headlines with no-holds-barred interviews into everything he’s done to date – the highs and the lows.
And yes, they’ll also be talking about him becoming the iconic face of Walkers crisps as well.
Joining him will be his family members, fellow footballers and pundits, as well as critics who will offer their thoughts on everything he's achieved from all angles.
With the help of archival footage, as well as never-before-seen personal material from Lineker’s life, the series will follow the star from his time as a child in Leicester through to his breakthrough moment on the football pitch, cementing him as one of Britain’s best known faces in the world of sport.
Nat Lippiett, who is executive producer on the series alongside Dan Grabiner for Orchard Studios, said of the project: "Everyone has their own Gary Lineker. The World Cup hero, the Match of the Day presenter, the activist or even the face of crisps – for decades he has been at the centre of the national conversation."
Grabiner added: "This series goes beyond the headlines to reveal the many sides of one of Britain’s most recognisable and divisive figures, with candid insight from Gary himself and those closest to both his triumphs and controversies."
Production is now under way, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
