It's that time of year again – Gamescom 2026 is here, and to kick off the show, gaming dad Geoff Keighley is back with Opening Night Live.

It's the eighth year of non-stop trailers for the biggest upcoming games, and of course some of the biggest world premieres.

is here in Cologne covering Gamescom live from the show floor, but for the moment, here are all the biggest reveals from tonight's Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Nodus Fall – A new RPG from HoYoverse

Kicking things off, we have what everyone in the chat is aptly calling 'Genshin Ring' – Nodus Fall.

From HoYoverse, the developers of Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail and more, it's an action RPG set in a world that looks exactly like the Lands Between.

Considering Genshin was a pretty successful clone of Breath of the Wild, it wouldn't be the first time that HoYo has taken inspiration from a previous GOTY hit, and we'll be excited to see a bit more from this one.

A new Gears of War: E-Day story trailer

We've got another trailer for Gears of War: E-Day.

There's certainly some hype in the room for it, though that could equally be for Xbox CEO Asha Sharma who has certainly done her bit to endear herself to the Xbox faithful in recent months.

The game was set to launch on PlayStation consoles, but has since been shifted back to an Xbox exclusive, and is set to arrive in October 2026.

Silent Hill Townfall's cast announced

A new trailer for next month's Silent Hill Townfall has just been debuted, showing off a new look at the game's first jaunt to sunny (foggy) Scotland.

The main thrust of the trailer was focused on the announcement of the cast, with Terry O'Quinn (Lost), Kezia Burrows (Crash), and Jovan Adepo (Fances, The Leftovers) who will play protagonist Simon.

It allows showed off a first look at the Deluxe Edition bonuses.

Tides of Annihilation's protagonist gets a new actor

Resident Evil Requiem's Grace actor Angela Sant'Albano makes her debut as protagonist Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation following previous actor Jennifer English dropping out.

We got a bit more of a look at the game's story, set in a post-apocalyptic London in which Gwendolyn must take control of the fog to command a collection of ghostly warriors.

It's an action RPG, blending the stylings of games like Lies of P and Elden Ring with a faster-paced combat system, and is one that we'll certainly be keeping an eye on this week.

We've got a new look at the long-awaited return of Mega Man in Mega Man: Dual Override.

The trailer introduced a brand-new character, Twinkle Girl, who appears to be the antagonist of the game, despite her name suggesting something very much to the contrary.

Capcom is having an incredible run this year, and while this is a bit of a shift away from the likes of Resident Evil and Pragmata, it's no doubt going to go down a hit with fans of the series.

Rayman: Legends Retold debuts a new musical stage

With MC Hammer perhaps the top billing, Rayman: Legends Retold is set to introduce all sorts of new musical stages.

ONL introduced another one of those musical stages, with a version of the iconic Macarena by Los Del Río.

We're not really sure this is what Rayman fans have been hoping for all these years, but at this point, they'll probably take what they can get – and I can't exactly blame them!

A new IP from PUBG

Player Unknowns: Battlegrounds is set to launch a new spin-off that's unlike anything we would have expected.

Set in the town of Cascadia in 1996 to a very Tony Hawk's Pro Skater-style soundtrack comes Ded.Net.

With a more grungy aesthetic, it's almost like if someone took Mixtape and blended it with the Postal series for something entirely of its own, and there's a closed beta to look forward to as well.

Remedy returns with a crazy trailer for Control Resonant

Set to the music of The Prodigy's Omen, Control Resonant's new trailer showcases some of the fast and frenetic combat, as well as its mind-bending world.

The physical version of the game has been pushed back to October, but judging by the reaction in the room, that hasn't deterred any of Remedy's fans.

Having played a preview of the game myself, I can safely say that this is one to be very excited for.

The Blood of Dawnwalker prepares for launch

From former developers of The Witcher 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to be one of, if not the big RPG of the year.

And if you're looking forward to it, we're only a few weeks away from the release date on 3 September.

If you loved The Witcher, you're going to want to check this one out.

Finally, a good Game of Thrones game?

It's kind of wild that, as popular as Game of Thrones is, nobody has ever really capitalised on it with a proper game.

The War for Westeros is probably not what most people would have hoped for, but it's certainly shaping up to be a fascinating one.

A new game from the Darksiders Genesis devs

Airship Syndicate is back with a self-funded isometric shooter that manages to squeeze a surprising amount of gore into its indie aesthetics.

We didn't get many details about Dust: Origins, but that doesn't mean we don't want to see more of what looks like a great new addition to the genre.

Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu actor Maggie Robertson takes to the stage to introduce a new game in the D&D universe – Warlock.

The first half of the trailer was pretty much just a very long cinematic that, to be honest, didn't really explain very much about the game.

Thankfully, we eventually got a look at some third-person gameplay or our protagonist briefly exploring a dungeon, putting her magic powers to good use.

That being said, these kinds of previews never really look that good, and I imagine it's probably a lot more fun to play than to watch – either way, we'll find out in 2027.

A surprise 1001 Arabian Nights appearance

Aladdin fans rejoice, because the classic 1001 Arabian Nights has inspired a new Middle-Eastern RPG – Threads of Mizan.

Flying carpets abound, players appear to be dumped into a magical world filled with djinn, monsters, giants and more.

On a first look, it looks like a combination of Prince and Persia and Forspoken, except without any of the cringeworthy dialogue from the latter, which is enough for me to keep an eye out for!

Metro 2039 devs take to the stage

Metro 2039 executive producer Jon Bloch and co-creative director Pavel Ulmer introduced a new trailer for Metro 2039, extolling the anti-war message of the game, which is being made by Ukrainian studio 4A Games, drawing inspiration from the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war.

It's been billed a "darker, more ambitious, and more personal journey" than their previous games, and it's quite easy to understand why.

The new trailer definitely gives off more of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. vibe – another Ukrainian game – and gives us a new look at stealth and gun gameplay, as well as some of the title's horror elements.

Metro 2039 arrives in February 2027.

Snoop Dogg is coming Hitman for some reason...?

Snoop Dogg continues his quest to randomly feature in a bunch of games as he heads to Hitman.

It's good to know that IO Interactive is putting all that 007 First Light money to good use.

Sakurai, put him in Smash Bros.

Mewgenics is coming to console

Mewgenics was introduced to the ONL stage with a nice little musical interlude.

The game, which comes from The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen, has been a hit on PC, and is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on 8 September.

Witchy Dutch title Amsterdam 1666 is launching into early access this week!

It comes from the studio of Patrice Désilets, the creator of the Assassin's Creed franchise.

His studio, Panache Digital Games, has been hard at work on the title for many years, and if it's anything like his previous work, we're in for a treat.

A Heroes of Might and Magic 3 remake

Ubisoft's rampant charge to remake anything and everything continues apace with a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic 3.

The iconic strategy game is set to arrive for a whole new generation with fully-updated graphics, and assuming they manage not to screw it up, should be a great experience for original fans and new players alike.

And I see no reason why this shouldn't be a great remake! Unfortunately, there's no release date on this one, though.

Another look at No Law

"We have Cyberpunk at home," is what Geoff may as well have said when he introduced the new trailer for No Law.

Set in a futuristic city falling apart at the seams, this third-person shooter showcases all sorts of futuristic gadgets and gory, head-popping action.

It's story-heavy, and while it's perhaps a bit mean to say it just looks like it's capitalising on the Cyberpunk hype, it definitely seems that way.

Hopefully it can hit similar heights to CDPR's masterpiece!

A first look at Ontos gameplay

The spiritual successor to horror hit Soma, Ontos comes to us from Nordic developer Frictional games.

Starring legendary actor Stellan Skarsgård, the game takes place on a repurposed moon hotel.

Players will explore the hotel's dark halls, coming face to face with unsettling monsters, mind-bending occurrences and horrifying experiments – definitely one for the horror fans among you (not me, I'm a big baby).

The developer of the incredible indie card game Inscryption is back with a sequel to the equally excellent Pony Island.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus looks like a riot, blending puzzles, point and click gameplay, and a surreal mix of art styles from realism to 2D pixel art to what appears to be live action.

If you've never played Daniel Mullins's games before, you owe it to yourself to check them out.

Finally, a Chinese game that isn't Three Kingdoms/Journey to the West/generic ancient vibes

One of the most exciting games being made in China right now is The Defiant, and is a lovely change from all the ancient Chinese vibes we've got over the last few years.

It's a shooter set in 1940s China, and looks like it's going to tell an incredible story in a really under-served period of history – in the west, at least.

No shade to all the Black Myth: Wukong and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers fans out there, but I for one am glad to see something a bit different coming out of China.

Naoki Hamaguchi hits the stage for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation

FF7 remake director Naoki Hamaguchi introduces a new trailer for FF7 Revelation, reassuring us all that the team at Square Enix is hard at work to conclude the journey of Cloud and co.

It's set to be the biggest game in the remake trilogy, and tells the story of FF7's final act, as Meteor threatens to destroy Midgar.

We've also got a great look at the iconic Weapons in all their remade glory, along with some new areas that we'll be able to explore in this enormous world.

The game is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC in Spring 2027, although no specific release date has been confirmed just yet.

The Witcher 3 is getting a remaster ahead of its new DLC

Before we get The Witcher 4, we've got CDPR's surprise Witcher 3 remaster to close out the show, with some beautiful upgraded graphics.

As well as that, we're getting improved traversal, sigils fixed, enhanced monster behaviours, a skill tree revamp, transmogrification, new finishers and much, much more.

It lands on 29 September, giving us all time to replay the game in preparation for next year's DLC – Songs of the Past.
